MTYBA Advocacy Competition: 10 October–4 November (30 September entry deadline) – Applications Open

For those recently returning from holiday, we know you may have barely unpacked your bags. Be that as it may, we here at MTYBA like to provide as many opportunities as possible for MTYBA members. With the dates for the pupillage gateway moving next year (from April to February) MTYBA have decided to run the competition again this year for the benefit of applicants. As such, registration is now open for MTYBA’s advocacy competition. This will take place between October 10th and November 4th.

The competition provides an excellent opportunity to polish the CV before the pupillage deadlines roll round again!

Competitors should apply individually. Pairings will only be allocated for those that progress to the final.

Once again, the competition is focused upon advocacy with no skeletons, bundles or excessive time limits.

There will be three rounds which will involve both criminal and civil law. Rounds will be judged by practising barristers and senior members of the judiciary. The competition has been devised in order to display the full range of MTYBA members’ skills in oral advocacy.

Format:

Round 1 – 10/10/16
Round 2 – 21/10/16
Round 3 – 04/11/16

Competition Prizes:

The winning pair will take the title and be crowned MTYBA Advocacy Competition Winner. Prizes will be awarded to the four competitors that progress to the final round.

Location:

The competition will take place in the Advocacy Suites, located at the top floor of the Middle Temple Library. We will meet in the Sherrard Room at the far end.

Refreshments in the form of sandwiches, wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be provided.

Competition Registration:

We invite applications to take part in the competition.

Entry to the competition is by way of reply to this email: enquiries@mtyba.org

The deadline for entry is Friday 30th September, 6pm. Registration is essential so that we can allocate times and apportion slots.

Entry is open to all MTYBA members and we wish you the best of luck.
